Has anyone went to nursing school and Hygiene school? I was wondering which was more challenging? That is interesting. Hygiene on the other hand is not well respected. It seems that nurses think that nursing school is hard and nothing can compare to it so I was just hygkenists how big a difference there was in RN school and programs such as hygiene. I have two very big passions, I have decided I cannot chose one until I know the common salaries and school years. Dental Hygienist always work mon-fri from 8am to 5pm and hardly any overtime. I dont think dental hygienest can work in registry or per diem.
Dental Hygienist might make a little more like thousand, not a whole lot but I’ve heard their benefits aren’t as great as a nurse. For DHs, I don’t know if it really makes much of a difference as to which one you have, possibly in hiring, but there’s not much room nueses growth as a DH. Took me almost a year to find a hygiene position as a new graduate. AND most hygiene position openings are for the unwanted work hours. Now dentists are open on Saturdays and later hours. Most dental offices are now open until pm on weekdays and every sat or every other sat until 1pm dengal even as late as hygienistx on a sat.
I work wed pm, tues pm, and sats pm. I do not want those hours. But those were the only hygiene positions open that I could. I had no choice in the hours. Also dentaal dentists do NOT offer hygienists any benefits. You buy your own uniforms. They dont even offer health insurance! I found this out when I started applying to hygiene positions.
Since decades ago most hygienists deental married with children dentists treat everyone like they are married with kids. Meaning hygienists who are married get nruses health insurance from their husband’s job and since they have kids they koney want to work more than 25 hours a week.
So it is RARE to find a full time hygiene job and rare to find one that offers any benefits. Oh and did I mention that there are NO paid vacations or sick days? If you are a hygienists you can’t take 1 day off from work.
If you do you risk losing your job to another hygienist who would gladly take your job OR if you monej take the day off you dont get paid. Again I did not know all of this until I became a hygienist last year. Nursing would have been better. Choose nursing. When you work for a hospital or nursing home you will get good pay PLUS health insurance.
