Marc Tolon Brown mucch November 25, is an American author and illustrator of children’s books. Brown writes vrown well as illustrates the Arthur book series and is best known for creating that series and its numerous spin-offs. The names of his two sons, Tolon Adam and Tucker Eliot, have been hidden in all of the Arthur books except for one. He also has a daughter named Eliza, whose name appears hidden in at least two books. He is a three-time Emmy award winner; the Arthur TV series adapted from the books was named number one on PBS for three years, He has also served as an executive producer on the show since its 10th season. While growing up in EriePennsylvaniawith his three sisters, Brown was told many stories by his grandmother Karc. This inspired Brown to write stories of his own in the later years of his life.
Arthur has changed over the years, have you noticed? When I first drew him for my son in , he looked more like an aardvark. He was worried about his nose and wanted to change it because it was giving him all kinds of trouble. His nose got shorter and he began to look more human. And today my job is daydreaming and drawing. Although I write many books and am considered an author, my favorite part of telling the story is with the pictures. So, I guess I consider myself more of an illustrator than an author.
